The Tamarind Tree Get Up
Tamarind Tree or Greenleaf? That’s the Vietnamese restaurant debate that goes on in Seattle. They’re both really good places and each have their strengths. You have to get into the intricacies and flavors of Vietnamese cuisine to debate.
Tamarind Tree sits in a spacious modern get up but don’t let that fool you. The food and parking lot are still loyal to authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The go-tos at Tamarind Tree are the com tam pork chop dac biet, egg noodle soup and the best in town banh beo (steamed rice cakes with shrimp & carrots finished with fish sauce). Rice is one of those things that’s best served broken. There are plenty of options to explore but I stay loyal to these dishes.
If there is an overflow at Tamarind Tree, roll next door to Vietnam House. It’s a little grittier but that’s how it is in Little Saigon.
